| I first dove this reef as a boat dive, then found it from shore on my last day in Curacao. Follow the dirt road to the landhuis (a fun drive in itself), pay $3 to access, and you have 3 beaches to choose from. Playa Largu is the last one, with an easy drive right along the edge of the beach. No facilities, but then again, likely no other people there either. Find a place to park, suit up, and it's an easy 50 yard snorkel out to the reef. In August I had calm water, little current, 82 degree water, and 60-80' vis. A couple of good underwater landmarks make navigation easy, and I was told the reef is great in both directions (I only did 1 dive from shore, and went off to the left--east). Was told turtles are common, though I didn't see any. Otherwise, a great reef, in good shape, with good life. |
