Telegraph Cove
|
|
Telegraph Cove is a nice protected area to get your fins wet. Parking is limited, but the dive is worthwhile.
Directions: From the Copper Cove dive site turn-off on Marine Drive, continue heading down Marine Drive past the entrance to Whyte Cliff Park. Turn left on Cliff Road, and continue to the trail head below.

04/23/2006 Brad (Avg: 3.47 Review) - This site is also known as LOOKOUT POINT. Fun dive with lots of sea stars and moon jellies near the surface. Abundance of life above 40ft. Will be back to dive deeper.
10/04/2004 Brian Reilly (Avg: 2.98 Review) - Telegraph cove is a pretty good place to spend a morning. Take your time getting your gear down to the shore, and find an out of the way place to park. Please be quiet because if I lived here, I would get annoyed by having a lot of loud strangers partying there everyday. Show them how courteous divers can really be. Another thing, be careful of currents here. I went out toward the mouth of the cove and felt a definite current that I'm sure would have gotten stronger had I continued out. Other than that, it was a good dive for when you have lots of time just to be lazy!
07/09/2003 Allan (Avg: 3.32 Review) - Be careful of ferry wake and currents at tide change. Enter and surface swim to the point on the left. Depending on tide, descend to 30 - 40 feet and you will find ton's o stuff to look at. Best with a dive light, even in daytime.
09/29/2002 Ilhan (Avg: 2.72 Review) - Here is really good place to dive for beginner scuba or snorkelling. You can see animal/plant life depending upon visibility. If you go there with NW winds, you will find clear water and will enjoy a lot of pretty diving. Happy and safety diving.
07/12/2002 Brent & Joanne (Avg: 3.02 Review) - When Whytecliff is too busy for your liking and you don't mind a site with no services and a relatively difficult entry, drive the extra 2 minutes and try this dive. Note: There is almost no parking near the trail head. The dive itself isn't bad, but the entry is slippery and there is a lot of driftwood to climb over (can be difficult with 100+ lbs. of gear strapped to you). When you finally get into the water I think you'll most likely be the only people in the water. There is an abundance of plant life, many fish, crabs and the usual stars and sea-cukes. Go at or near high tide to ease entry. BEWARE of boats and fishermen.
12/16/2001 Mike at Langley (Avg: 3.67 Review) - Real nice site. Be cautious at low tide! the rocks at entry are round and very slippery. Nice 20 ft wall on left side followed by deeper wall around corner. Current can be strong around corner. Watch for ferry (on entry/exit) waves from wake. Nice 20 ft bay with sand bottom, great for skills/refresher.

Close to the trial head, you'll find small parking areas. If possible, quietly drop your gear off, and park away from the immediate residences.
