Snorkel from shore on great Maya barrier that extends from the Mexican Caribe through costal Belize to the Honduran Bay Islands. Lodge in beach cabana ($25 per night) with 20m walk across white sand beach to shore. Sleep 'til you wake, snorkel, eat, drink and repeat. Nirvana.
Directions:
Fly to Cancun, QR, Mexico, rent a car and drive south to Mahahual.

01/20/2011 Anonymous (Avg: 3.79 Review) - Mahahual is a beautiful little fishing village almost to the farthest reach of the Yucatan. I love this town except for the 'backwards' diving. You CANNOT find anywhere to rent tanks to do shore diving at your leisure! This is not for lack of dive operations. None of the dive operators will rent tanks, they only want to do boat dives. I find this quite sad, because this is one of my favorite places in Mexico to visit, however I love diving and this is definitely a factor on me returning :(
