Coco View Wall
|
|
Coco View Wall is one of the most spectacular dives on the island. Starting at 6 meters and dropping straight down to 35 meters and beyond, you can see a huge variety of life living at every strata. This dive is most easily accessed from the beach at the Coco View Resort. Because there are a few important things you need to know before diving this area, Coco View requires you to take an orientation class and a dive with their dive master. To reach their wall, walk out to the dive platform, and then follow the guide chain through the safest channel in the reef, and you'll find yourself at the edge of diving paradise!
Directions: A few kilometers East of French Harbour, turn into the parking lot for the Coco View ferry dock . You can't miss it!

09/28/2006 Jason NYC (Avg: 4.34 Review) - My Wife and I had a lovely week at Coco View Resort and dove this site several times. The only negative is that it's a pretty good swim out and back from shore (I suspect many never really make it out to the wall itself the first time here) but it's a great trip so you won't get bored. You will have plenty of shallow reef along the way and also the wreck of the Prince Albert as well to keep you busy. This was one of my favorite sites all week. Easily as good as any we dove from the boat, if not better. Very healthy reef system here! This is also a spectacular night dive! We saw several basket stars out at night! The actual wall is very steep and dramatic. Do yourself a favor and try Coco View for some worry free diving.
03/01/2006 Anonymous (Avg: 4.55 Review) - The spur & groove topped wall is spectacular. Because of the regional geological dip, the south side of Roatan has walls that are right next to the beach. You need to stay at CoCo View to take advantage of the dive due to the resort setup. If you are a guest, it is the easiest but most spectacular shore dive that I have done. Eagle rays, green morays, reef squid, & sea horses are common.
05/28/2005 Anonymous (Avg: 3.98 Review) - Very nice wall!
02/19/2005 Shelly Fischer (Avg: 4.42 Review) - Diving at CCV was my first diving experience since my open water certification. It was great! So much easier than shore diving in Bonaire was this year.
02/12/2005 Anonymous (Avg: 4.66 Review) - CoCo View is AMAZING!! I think every diver in the world should experience it at least once. Good atmosphere, friendly staff, experienced dive masters, excellent dive conditions both in the water and on the dock at the resort. Try it...I promise you'll be back for more & more!!!
03/27/2004 Richard Langley (Avg: 4.92 Review) - An excellent and easy dive. One of several that are accessible 24 hours a day from Coco View Resort. Starts near surface, so can be easily snorkeled on a calm day. Has to be one of the best in the Caribbean.
11/21/2003 Doc Adelman, C.I.D. (Avg: 4.54 Review) - The best Roatan resort shore dive. Top ten in the Caribbean. Incredible macro critters, learn the landmarks, then dive all night long with no worries. Can't get lost! Done it 300+ times, always something new. The 320' to the wreck in 10 fsw may be the best part! Octos, Squid, Rays, Sailfin Blennies, 3' Parrots, have them drop you at 2Tall-2Small and scuba to resort "Enduro" dive. I saw a Whale Shark on a shore dive.
09/24/2003 Wanda S. Rodriguez (Avg: 3.88 Review) - Very easy entry and navigation out to the wall. A great dive site for beginners or diver who have not been diving for a while. The visibility was cloudy compared to most dive sites around the island on the day I dove there. Coco View Resort was a very nice operation and allowed me to shore dive there even though I was not staying at their resort.
06/17/2003 Steve Simms (Avg: 4.29 Review) - Diving doesn't get much better than this! I just went out to Coco View for the day, but the diving was pretty incredible. I took their orientation, and then got a couple more dives in. It's easy to see the wreck, and I had two walls to choose from. Macro photography is pretty good here, so I think I'll come back for a week and just try to get some good shots. Highly recommended.
03/23/2003 Anonymous (Avg: 4.11 Review) - Extremely easy entry and exit.

All shore diving follows the white sand path out to the small floating dock in the background. From there, you drop down to follow a chain through a channel in their extensive reef. The wall extends from directly out from the dock to hundreds of meters to the left.

The entry could not be easier! When returning from the shore dive, you can drop your tanks off in a small storage rack on the beach. For those of you carrying camera equipment, like these hearty souls, you might want to strap your camera to your wrist. If you drop it on the wall, it will be a deep swim to retrieve it!
