The gantry at Bawley Point is a popular fishing and diving spot easily accessible by car. Many dive stores do their training there. It is also a historical site with remains of an old lumber shipping facility.

04/26/2004 Daniel Geldart (Avg: 3.53 Review) - Bawley Point is the old faithful. You can be almost sure that you can dive Bawley in most conditions. A giant stride off non slippery rocks near old wharf is the easiest entry. Usually 2 large Smooth rays will greet divers looking for any hand outs. One ray has totally lost its tail (probably due to being cut off by fisher dudes/gals). Descend down to 6m and fin out to the point where the depth gets to 10 - 14 m. A safe dive to navigate as one keeps the reef to the right on the way out and the left to come home. Every time we dive, there is some thing different going on. In early summer it is like a nursery with many Juveniles. Other times there are giant cuttle fish, Port Jackson Sharks and schools of fish like Trevally, Tailor and Aussie Salmon. Giant Blue Groupers will just beg for a feed of sea urchins. Night diving here is just the best - Safe easy entry/exit, easy navigation and clear water. As it is not too deep, you can be assured of excellent underwater photography with out a heap of lighting gear. 20 minutes drive North of Batemans Bay, turn right for 7kms and you are there.
