07/24/2008 DEH (Avg: 2.85 Review) - My wife and I did two refresher dives in Pennyroyal Quarry. Compared to other local quarries the visibility (up to 25 feet and perhaps more in spots), ease of the site, and shore set-up was above average. Nice place. We only dove to about 20 feet where the first thermocline hit. Above was like bath water, below seemed a good 10 degrees cooler. Went to 34 feet and it was cold with just a 3 mm wetsuit. About a dozen 'sites' to see in the shallows. Others had drysuits and quarry goes beyond 100 ft. Will dive it again when need to refresh. We went mid-week and it was not crowded.
