Ship's Cove
|
Ships Cove is a great place for the kids to hang out while waiting for the divers to return. With all this history this site has enjoyed, there is a possibility for you treasure hunters to bring something up from the bottom
Directions: Take a look at the previous site, Portland Head Light. Ship's Cove is the first cove you come to on the left once you have entered Fort Williams Park.

07/15/2012 Brian Whalen (Avg: 4.05 Review) - The parking was nice and there were portopotties throughout the park. The entry to the dive site was very easy and the rock formations started about 20 yards on the left of the cove and down around the abandoned fort. There where very large rock formations and crevasses to go in and out of but a flag can get caught up easily. It was a great dive, we avg. about 28 ft. and were under for 68 mins.
07/10/2007 Eric McBride (Avg: 2.83 Review) - Not a bad dive site. Entry was precarious due to an abundance of rocks on the beach. I didn't see the sand that is in the picture here. I caught it between tides, so it was shallow and surge was rough, decreasing the vis. LOTS OF SNAILS! They were all over the rocks at about 6 ft. Not a lot of plant diversity.
07/01/2004 Anonymous (Avg: 3.30 Review) - Great site for an easy dive. The rock wall on the left side of the cove can be fun to explore.

There is ample parking in front of the cove. Porta-potties are to the left.

A little history. Take time to explore the area on the many hiking trials.
