Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at McKinney Park, Lake Winnipesaukee
One of the only public accesses on Lake Winnipesaukee. Good stuff to see. There is a full service dive shop only about 4 miles away.
Directions to McKinney Park:Take 93 north to Concord. In Concord get off on 15E (393/202/4/9) Follow to the end of 393 merges onto 2ndary road (Weathervane on Right) Continue for about 2 miles. At first set of lights take a left onto Main St Chichester. At the end of Main Street go left onto 28 North. Drive on 28 North for 40 minutes. At the Alton Circle cont. in 28 North into Wolfeboro. There will be a 90 degree bend in the road, about a mile beyond there will be the hospital. Across from the Hospital is Clark Road. Turn left onto Clark Road. Follow to end. Park at top of hill and walk down. Staging area at bottom. Swimming off to the right towards Wolfeboro Bay is not very exciting. If you swim off to the left it is a great dive with lots of marine life...bass, perch, sunnies to name a few. The average usually will go no deeper than 40 feet. Someone with good air consumption and diving skills could see the wall that goes from 60 feet to 110.

This is a great place for beginners or refresher courses. The entry is quite rocky as well as the trail leading to the site, but the bottom is full of boulders, sandy openings and a small boat named 'Bumblebee'. Take a heading 270 degrees out for 75yds and there is a marker underwater to set your flag. Go 240 degrees from there for 20 yards or so and the small boat is wrecked there. There are a number of big small mouth bass and fresh water mussels to feed them. Nice place for a possible night dive.
