Submitter Comments:
A lovely, almost secluded beach area that leads down an old boat ramp to an easy entry into about 20-30 fsw after a short to moderate swim. Lots of eel grass, flounder, small fish, and other life. Not an amazing dive but it does the trick. Frequented by classes on weekends so it may get crowded. Viz ranges from 3-20 feet, mostly about 8-10 on a calm day.

Directions:
Route 138 east takes you to the Jamestown bridge. Continue over the Newport Bridge and exit at Scenic Newport. R on Farewell, R on America's Cup Ave, R on Bellevue, L on Ocean, to sign on L for King's Beach Fishing Area. Drive to the parking lot, plenty of room, not crowded, and free. GPS: N 41 27.234 W 071 20.543(parking lot)

07/15/2015 AfterDark (Avg: 3.55 Review) - Kings Beach is an all around great dive site. It is Spartan with no facilities. It was where I made my 1st ocean dives in 1968 and I still enjoy diving there to this day! The entry is easy, a rocky, gravel shore. The current runs parallel to the shore west on the outgoing tide and east on the incoming tide. Average depth is 20FSW with areas that drop to 40fsw max. Visibility can be very good for a RI shore dive; sometimes more than 20' visibility can be found here! Zero visibility can be found here also. Fish life is abundant with tuna sometimes making a run by looking for food! Spearfishing contests are held here so the fish must be good! In addition to divers there are many kayakers here, divers should remember that yaks are silent so looking up when ascending is essential.

09/15/2012 Anonymous (Avg: 3.63 Review) - Great Dive! Was very surprised at how calm it was both bottom and top. Viz was OK. Plenty of plant and fish life to check out. A very easy dive, with great access.

08/16/2012 Anonymous (Avg: 4.25 Review) - I thought it was fun to dive here. Plenty of things to see, and no current whatsoever.

08/28/2005 Anonymous (Avg: 3.03 Review) - Better than Wetherill!

07/08/2005 Jason NYC (Avg: 3.27 Review) - A very secluded entry with no facilities and dirt roads. Plenty of room to park in the "dirt lot." Simply lovely little beach great for the family as well. Frequently used for classes but dead on week days. Suit up at your car and walk down to the water (maybe 50 yards or less) and in ya go! Very easy entry, even at low tide. Swim straight out into 25 fsw past the eel grass. Kelp, flounder, skate, fish, crabs and the usual. 62 degrees at 26 fsw in July. Really lovely secluded place! Fairly protected as well. Viz was about 10+ feet (not bad in 20 feet of water) when I did it bit it ranges between 0-20 on a great day. No current or surf, a tiny bit of surge when I was there. Very easy dive. After your done here go check out Forth Wetherill or Beavertail only 10-15 minutes away by car.
