Carmel Point
|
|
Carmel Point can be a difficult dive if the conditions are not perfect. For the best diving, you will need to swim for the point where current and swells could greet you. Plan your dive with someone experienced.
Directions: Carmel Point is located at the Southern end of the Carmel Beach City Park, which lines the whole city front. From Highway 1, take Ocean Ave. West to sea. Turn left on Scenic Road, and continue to the end of the beach.

01/15/2004 Jesse Rorabaugh (Avg: 2.94 Review) - This was not a great dive. I have heard that because of the rough conditions here spear fishing can be good. I did not find that to be the case however. All I saw were a few kelp, blue rockfish and perch. However I hurt my ear pretty early on, and may have just missed all the lingcod on the bottom. If conditions are good maybe this would be a fun dive. Even then though I would rather be at Coral Street, or Carmel River beach. Also just to try to clear up confusion I have heard this site called 'the copper roof house' referring to a large mansion nearby.

There is usually parking next to the trail head on Scenic Road.

Glance over the edge to take in the wide expanse of beach, and the rocky point. For you dog owners, the entire beach is off-leash-- very unusual for California-- which is largely due to the efforts of Doris Day and Friends.

It's a short hike down the stairs, and another 100 yards to the entry.

This is an unusually calm day. Neptune must have been in a good mood!
