Snorkeling and Scuba Diving at Whales Head
Whales Head is a very nice destination for a day's diving. Kelp beds on the North side of bay provide the most interesting sights. Start at low tide and kick out about 100 yards.
Located about 7 miles North of Brookings, look for the small sign at the entrance on the ocean-side of the road.

A couple hundred yard trek to the water brings you to a sandy, easy slope west. First rock has interesting bottom life but the action is beyond the channel between the two large islands. Ling Cod and Octopus live along the south side of the outside island. Pick a calm day.
