I call this place Two Step and although this is my first dive here, I have skin dived here dozens of times. The entry is so easy. Just sit down on the natural lava steps and slide in. I did a solo dive here and ended up joining a group of three from Japan to finish out the dive. Two Step is a great dive and easy with depths ranging from 10 feet to 109 ft. There are eels, Octo's, Rays and fish for everyone.

This was my first dive at Mile Marker 4. There was a good surge and wave action and, although I had no problem, the wife was getting beat up a little. Once in, it's a wonderful dive with lots of swim throughs and caverns after you go around the point to the left. We saw several Lizardfish and turtles. Viz was a bit poor until we went around the point to deeper water and then it was good. There were surfers to the right and I thought it might be fun to grab an ankle. Next time ;)
10/01/2002 4.19 Koloa Landing Kauai, Hawaiian Islands
Koloa is a shore divers dream. I've dove this site over 30 times in the this summer and I still find new critters, you just have to have to slow down and take your time. My last dive was 82 minutes and we saw several eels, a couple large turtles, saddleback butterflies, long nose butterflies, titan scorpion fish, leaf scorpion fish, a green lion fish, a school of giant cornet fish, a dozen blue trevely attacking a school of big eyed scad, and a resident baby eagle ray named "Koloa". Those who poo poo should slow down and take their time to let the marine life come to them. If you dive quickly like a predator, the critters will react like prey.
